Application Criteria

1. Quantity and amount of scholarships

  • Up to three $2,000.00 scholarships will be awarded.

2. Qualified Schools

  Any accredited post-secondary community college or trade school within the State of Hawaii.

3. Qualifications of the Applicant

•  Any student currently enrolled in a qualified institution with a minimum of a 3.0 grade point average, is a resident of Hawaii and entering their second year in construction-related field of Carpentry, Architectural, Engineering, and Construction Technologies (AEC), Electrical Installation & Maintenance Technology, Diesel Mechanics or third year of Machine, Welding & Industrial Mechanics Technologies.

  Applicant must also demonstrate a serious purpose to continue their education.

  Student must illustrate a financial need or hardship to qualify.

4. Application Procedure

A. Each student must complete the application form.

B. Complete the attached Confidential Parents or Personal Financial Statement. If you do not live with your parents and are not supported by them, complete with your personal financial information.

C. Submit at least one Letter of Recommendation with the application form from an instructor or school official. Additional recommendation letters are welcome from an adult not related to you.

D. Attach your most recent STAR unofficial transcript (must include Spring 2024 grades). Please check with your instructor, advisor or counselor if you need help
printing your STAR unofficial transcript.

E. File your completed Scholarship Application Form, Confidential Parents or Personal Financial Statement, Letter(s) of Recommendation, and STAR unofficial transcript to Hawaii Island Contractors Association, Scholarship Committee.
